The Spout, Lismore
The Spout, Lismore
The Spout in Lismore, Co Waterford, Ireland. The Spout was the source of fresh water for the workers on Lismore Estate and Lismore Castle.
The Spout has been a source of clean mountain drinking water for a very long time and is the same water that is piped into the castle for consumption by its residents.
The Spout is situated along the Lismore Castle wall, on the road into Lismore almost opposite what is known by locals as St Carthage's Well.
In the 60s carts with water butts would fill up here and take the water home as the tap water was undrinkable.
As a kid we would stop off on our bikes and fill up our water bottles, or on the way back from the strand from a swim we would stop for a drink.
Mounted in a double white mount, framing included in the price.
